When professionals learn new skills, patients are the ones who benefit. This was once again confirmed during a training for specialists from the Chernivtsi region, who gathered at the Rehabilitation Forum “Building Capacities for Community Recovery.”
The regional format was chosen because it not only helps raise the professional level of specialists, but also reaches a wide network of healthcare facilities, ensuring that modern rehabilitation methods become accessible to patients in local communities.
Although today war-related injuries are at the forefront, the “peaceful” challenges remain as well: patients recovering after strokes, with musculoskeletal disorders, or those who have undergone amputations for various reasons. The training therefore focused on the very issues rehabilitation specialists face every day.
A particular emphasis was placed on modern rehabilitation methods, including the HIT technique (High-Intensity Walking Training), aimed at accelerating recovery for patients after cerebrovascular accidents. This innovative method has already been approved and implemented not only in the USA but also across most European countries. Participants of the training will be among the first to introduce this approach in Ukraine, including in district hospitals. The method significantly increases the chances of reintegrating stroke survivors into society and restoring their professional capacity.
Another lively discussion revolved around modern approaches to treating scoliotic deformities in both children and adults. The trainer’s experience left no doubt about the need to apply new strategies to slow down pathological changes that often lead to surgical interventions.
Equally valuable was the information on organizing and managing the rehabilitation process in hospital departments, as well as cooperation with local educational institutions to ensure adequate staffing levels.
As a result, specialists gained practical skills for solving complex cases they encounter in their daily practice, making their work more effective and of higher quality. At the same time, patients will be able to access advanced, evidence-based rehabilitation services.
The participants shared their impressions, emphasizing that they were inspired by the opportunity to gain new knowledge and practical skills that can be applied in their work immediately.
