Prohibition of mobilization to non-core positions

Important news for rehabilitation specialists: from now on, such professionals cannot be appointed to non-specialized military positions without their voluntary consent.

On June 12, a Presidential Decree came into force, introducing changes to the procedures for military service for healthcare professionals. The document is available at the following link.

The changes apply to specialists who hold a master’s degree (or an equivalent qualification) in the following fields:

  • “Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Technologies” (specialization: “Prosthetics and Orthotics”),
  • “Therapy and Rehabilitation”,
  • “Biomedical Engineering” (educational program in prosthetic and orthotic technology).

It also applies to those who have a relevant higher education and have completed postgraduate training in the following specialization courses:

  • “Occupational Therapy”,
  • “Prosthetics and Orthotics”,
  • “Speech and Language Therapy”,
  • “Physical Therapy”.

In addition, such specialists may now be appointed to officer positions in the field of rehabilitation, including prosthetics and orthotics, with the possibility of undergoing military training if necessary.

This is an important step towards ensuring that each specialist works where their knowledge saves and restores lives. We are grateful to everyone who advocated for this decision together with us!
